OUR
NORTH STAR
Supporting small business doesn’t just feel good, it IS good. Good for helping your neighbors to make a living, good for forming long-term relationships with product and service providers, good for creating local jobs, good for boosting your town’s economy, and good for sustaining the businesses that make your community unique.
We believe in building and preserving connections between people, pets, and the places in which they live.
We understand that your pet is a part of your family and we recognize that families are inextricably linked to place. Everything we do is done in an effort to ensure you, your pet, and your community have a healthy, prosperous, and sustainable future. We do this by being actively engaged with our local region and by providing veterinary services with individualized care, compassion, and a commitment to excellence and service to others. Ultimately, we not only value your business, but the intrinsic worth of you and your pet.
We acknowledge the need for locally owned clinics with a personal touch. It is Galesburg Veterinary Clinic's wish to restructure the prevailing value systems embraced by the more consolidated hospitals by providing consistent and personalized care. Our services are provided by a doctor who will know your pet, and deliver care thoughtfully and at a fair price. We have only three stakeholders— People, Pets, and Place — and although we strive to be profitable, profitability and growth are not innate tenants of our practice philosophy but a means to preserve and improve the environment, animal resources, public health, and quality of veterinary care we provide.
YOUR OTHER FAMILY DOCTOR
Blake E. Wiese, DVM
Galesburg Veterinary Clinic is under the sole ownership of Dr. Blake Wiese, a native of Galesburg.
Dr. Wiese earned his veterinary medical degree from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine after obtaining his bachelor's degree at Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin.
During Blake’s years as a student at Galesburg-Augusta High School, he was employed as a veterinary assistant by Galesburg Veterinary Clinic's previous owner, Dr. Judy Salada. Dropped off daily at the practice driveway by the school bus, Blake became engrossed in the everyday workings of veterinary practice and decided he wanted to follow in Dr. Salada’s footsteps—He wanted to deliver quality veterinary care to the pets of people in the community he loved.
Dr. Wiese is most interested in disease prevention and is excited for any opportunity to educate pet owners about the preventive care needs of their pets. In addition to his interest in wellness care, he is skilled in dermatology, ophthalmology, cardiology, internal medicine, surgery, and veterinary dental care.
Dr. Wiese is a USDA nationally-accredited veterinarian, a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, and a member of the Michigan Veterinary Medical Association.
